Brown Bear Hide -Raptor Hide

Location and installation year
This hide is located in the base of the Hargita Mountain in Transylvania near the town of Székelyudvarhely (Odorheiu Secuiesc). It was installed in a tranquil clearing in April 2023. The hide has been tested and developed in 2024 and we had our first trial photography in 2025. The hide also has a drinking station for birds and mammals.
Access
It is 200 – 800 meter walk to the hide from the car parking area, depending on the weather and the access dirt road conditions.
Size and style
It is 300 cm wide (10,5 meter), 300 cm long and 250 cm high. It has three-way photo-windows perfect for photography. It is comfortable for up to 2 photographers. It is also equipped with sleeping facilities if required.

Regulation
This hide can be used for all day from dawn to dusk. It is fair distant from the Hargita Bear Lodge so it is good to spend all day but if circumstances require it can be used for half day. We usually enter the hide around 05:00 and stay until dusk (which is variable time depending on the season). Smoking is not possible in the hide. Please avoid to use any chemicals which the bears could smell (e.g. insect repellent, perfume, deodorant etc.)
Recommended Photo Equipment
The distance of the bears from the hide ranges between 20-65 meter. All sorts of lenses are recommended in the range of 200-500 mm. Occasionally the bears can appear within 20 meters from the hide as well. Extenders.
